When Dr. Paul Morrow first started handing out sandwich bags full of seed, people thought he was crazy. But he kept coming back every year until landowners began to understand: If they didn't create habitat, wildlife would be lost to strip malls.
The first year Dr. Paul Morrow stood outside the Conservation Districtís tree sale, handing out sandwich bags full of seed, people thought he was crazy. But he kept coming back every year until landowners began to understand: If they did not create forage and habitat, wildlife would be lost to subdivisions and strip malls.
Armed with his fatherís old crop books, Morrow learned the trace minerals and elements that aid wildlife metabolism, and helped invent a blend of seed he calls Bird and Buck.
Since 1992, as Chairman of his local Pheasantís Forever chapter, he has distributed thousands of pounds of seed from the century-old barn behind his office, and each year, he visits hundreds of farms to advise the owners where to plant them. Over the last 14 years, he has helped enroll 2000 acres in the federal Conservation Reserve Program.
